Biography

Dr. Maged Mina is a board-certified specialist in both anesthesiology and pain management practicing in San Antonio, TX. He is originally from Egypt, where he received his medical degree with honors from Ain Shams University School of Medicine in 1991. He completed his residency training at UT Health Science Center in Houston, where he served as Chief Resident for the Department of Anesthesiology in 2000 and received the award for Best Resident for regional anesthesia.

He completed a pain management fellowship at UT Health San Antonio in 2001. Dr. Mina has been practicing in San Antonio for the last 20+ years. In addition to pain management and anesthesiology, he has significant experience in teaching other doctors, as he currently serves as adjunct clinical faculty at UTHSCSA. 

Dr. Mina’s medical memberships include Associate Faculty of the American Society of Regional Anesthesiologists and Pain Management (ASRA), the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), the Texas Pain Society, and Vice President of the Texas Pain Society chapter in San Antonio, where he teaches ultrasound courses.

Dr. Mina is the Chairman of the pain medicine department at the South Texas Spine and Surgical Hospital. The Baptist Health System in San Antonio presented Dr. Mina with its Humanitarian Award in 2013, where he serves on their Medical Ethics committee and is also the former Lead of Obstetric Anesthesia. For three years, Dr. Mina served as the Chief of Staff at North Central Baptist Hospital the flagship hospital of the Baptist system. Dr. Mina authored multiple chapters concerning Pediatric Pain in a publication called Decision Making in Pain Management, published in 2018.

In his personal time, he enjoys spending time with his two children who are currently in medical school. Mag is also an active leader in his church and dedicates much of his time to serving San Antonio as a volunteer. Maged has also organized and participated in multiple medical mission trips in Africa.
